A powerful but light, deeply relaxing, bodywork session where we look at patterns of torque, dysfunction and postural history to gather an idea where your body may hold areas of fascial tension, emotional and physical restriction. Then, working with the body we support the fascial system to unwind itself, allowing it returning to a more supportive state.
What can happen during a session?
I will start with an in-depth consultation, body scan and visual postural reading which will guide the work we do.
I facilitate your body to return to a more manageable and balanced state physically and emotionally with light touch, gentle movement and a guided 'drop in' to the body using the breath.
Fascial bodywork can be deeply relaxing.
Sometimes you might feel nothing at all during a session, other times you may feel small releases within the body such as twitches or an unwinding sensation, or occasionally a more intense release occurs where your body has a more physical reaction.
Energy and emotion can be held within the fascial system and often is released during a session. I will work with you and your body to provide a safe and supportive environment for this.
“During fascial unwinding, the therapist stimulates mechanoreceptors in the fascia by applying gentle touch and stretching.
Touch and stretching induce relaxation and activate the parasympathetic nervous system.
They also activate the central nervous system, which is involved in the modulation of muscle tone as well as movement.
As a result, the central nervous system is aroused and thereby responds by encouraging muscles to find an easier, or more relaxed, position and by introducing the ideomotor action.
Although the ideomotor action is generated via normal voluntary motor control systems, it is altered and experienced as a voluntary response.”

Is Fascial bodywork suitable for me?
Fascial bodywork is suitable for almost everyone, no matter what your age or current state of health as it is very light and is normally done over clothes without oil.
It can help with imbalances, chronic pain conditions, reoccurring pain patterns, conditions such as PTSD, somatic trauma release, energy release, adhesions, headaches, and many more issues when other forms of massage may not have been effective long term.
Fascial bodywork can also be used alongside other forms of massage and aromatherapy as well as talking therapies (talking therapies not provided at Soulia Elements).
What can I expect after a session?
If your body has gone into release physically, emotionally or energetically you may experience some mild aches as you realign and adjust. This should pass resulting in a more balanced, connected sensation.
It is advised to restrict heavy physical activity for a few days after.
You may feel emotional.
I suggest that you receive a talking therapy alongside the unwinding if you feel a strong emotional release that doesn’t pass or resolve or that becomes unmanageable.
Do you provide any additional support?
